Description

Introducing Clematis 'Niobe', a stunning hardy perennial climber that brings a dramatic splash of ruby-red to your garden. These velvety blooms, which deepen to a rich wine-red as they mature, are a true showstopper. Each star-shaped flower can reach up to 15cm (6in) across, beautifully contrasted by striking greenish-yellow stamens. Flowering prolifically from late spring through to autumn, this compact clematis provides months of continuous vibrant colour, making it a superb choice for any garden. How to Grow: - Position: Plant in a sunny or semi-shaded spot. It thrives equally well in patio containers, against small trellises, obelisks, or trained up walls and fences. - Soil: Prefers moist, fertile, well-drained soil. For containers, use a good quality soil-based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Avoid waterlogged or excessively dry conditions. - Planting: Ensure the top of the rootball is planted about 7.5cm (3in) below the soil surface to encourage strong shoot growth. - Pruning: This variety belongs to Pruning Group 2. In early spring, remove any dead or damaged stems and cut back the remaining stems to a pair of strong buds. - Feeding & Mulching: Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant in spring. Regular watering and feeding throughout the growing season will promote abundant flowering and healthy growth. This Clematis 'Niobe' is supplied as a 7cm pot plant.
