Description

Clematis 'Niobe' offers a stunning display of velvety ruby-red flowers that mature to a deep wine-red, adding a dramatic splash of colour to your garden. Each star-shaped bloom, reaching up to 15cm (6in) across, is adorned with contrasting greenish-yellow stamens, creating a captivating visual. This hardy perennial climber provides months of vibrant colour, from late spring through to autumn. This compact variety is perfect for various garden settings. It thrives in patio containers, adds vertical interest to small trellises and obelisks, and can be planted at the back of borders for added dimension. Clematis 'Niobe' is also an excellent choice for gracefully covering walls, fences, or arches when provided with suitable support. How to Grow: - Position: Plant in a sunny or semi-shaded location. - Soil: Prefers moist, fertile, well-drained soil. For containers, use a good quality soil-based compost such as John Innes No.3. Avoid waterlogged or excessively dry conditions. - Planting: Ensure the top of the root ball is at least 7.5cm (3in) below soil level to encourage robust shoot growth. - Pruning: This is a pruning group 2 variety. In early spring, remove any dead or damaged stems and cut back the remaining stems to a pair of strong buds. - Feeding & Watering: Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost in the spring. Regular feeding and watering throughout the growing season will promote vigorous growth and abundant flowering. Images are for illustrative purposes only and represent mature plants.
