Herbs & Spices Mace blades whole have a delicate, warm flavour with tart, lemon notes. They are the membrane that surrounds nutmeg and are carefully removed then dried out in the sun. When the blades dry, they turn a beautiful crimson.Mace blades are a classic northern European spice. They are specifically used in Sweden in the favourite dish Swedish meatballs! The blades are ideal to flavour stews, clear soups and cheese sauce, or added to sweet pastries and pies.
