Description

Acer palmatum 'Katsura' is a compact ornamental Japanese maple prized for its long season of colour. New foliage emerges bright orange in spring, lightens to yellow edged with pink, turns green in summer and develops rich orange tones in autumn before falling. Ideal as a specimen for small gardens, it grows to about 3m. Plant in moist, well-drained neutral to slightly acidic soil in partial sun. Keep well watered and fed while establishing and prune in summer if needed. Best planted March–June and September–October.
