Description

Clematis 'Comtesse de Bouchard' is a vigorous, self-twining climber with large mauve-pink flowers from June to September, growing to about 1–1.5m. Supplied as a 2L potted plant, it will arrive ready to plant outdoors or in a container. Plant in moist but well-drained soil, keeping the crown level with the pot. When backfilling, mix in a soil improver such as well-rotted manure and firm the soil before watering. For containers use a pot with good drainage, a quality compost and crocks at the base; feed and water regularly. This variety prefers sun or partial shade and is classed as Group 3, so hard prune in early spring for a strong display.

Product Care InstructionsPlace the pot in a sheltered spot outdoors and water regularly to keep the soil moist. Dig a hole slightly wider than the rootball of the plant. Place the plant in the hole so that it sits at the same level in the ground as it did in the pot. When backfilling, mix in a soil improver such as well-rotted farmyard manure. Firm the soil around the plant and water well. Choose a pot with good drainage holes. Place stones or crocks at the bottom of the pot to stop the drainage holes clogging up. Use a good quality compost. Feed and water container-grown plants regularly.
