Description

Marshalls Garden Wisteria frutescens 'Longwood Purple' is a compact, hardy climber producing masses of unscented purple flower clusters in late spring (May–June). Supplied as a 3L plant, selected from our nursery and sent in a pot ready to plant. Thrives in full sun and moist but well-drained soils, making it ideal for smaller gardens, containers, or training over fences and walls. Plant at the same level as the pot; improve backfill with well-rotted organic matter for planting in the ground. For containers, use a pot with good drainage, quality compost and regular feeding and watering. Aftercare: water regularly in the first year and during dry spells, feed in spring with a slow-release high-potash fertiliser, prune in summer by cutting current season shoots back to five or six leaves and again in January–February to 2–3 buds from the main branches.

Product Care InstructionsWater regularly in the first year after planting and during dry periods. Feed in spring with a slow-release high potash feed such as rose fertiliser. Prune in summer, cutting back the current year’s growth of long whippy shoots to five or six leaves from the main branches. Prune again in January or February, cutting these shoots back again to 2-3 buds from the main branches.
