Description

Marshalls Garden Sunflower 'Irish Eyes' produces multiple golden-yellow blooms on a compact plant ideal for pots and borders. Expected height is about 45cm and blooms from July to October. Sow indoors in a 7–8cm pot of seed compost, press seeds 1cm deep and keep at 15–20°C in a propagator or covered with cling film; when shoots appear remove the cover and grow on in a minimum temperature of 10°C. Harden off for 2–3 weeks before planting out after the risk of frost has passed. For outdoor sowing, plant seeds 1.5cm deep in pre-watered soil in their flowering positions and thin as required. Plant in well-drained, fertile soil in full sun, water well until established, and feed regularly once flowering starts. Mature flower heads yield edible dried seeds.
