Description

Marshalls Garden Basil 'Purple Ruffles' is a bushy herb with ruffled, fringed deep purple leaves and showy purple-pink flower spires. The aromatic leaves add flavour to a wide range of dishes, so the plant works well as both a kitchen herb and an ornamental feature. Sow the 200-seed pack in well-drained, fertile soil between February and July; plants typically bloom from April to October. For best flavour when grown for culinary use, pinch off flower buds as they appear to stop the leaves becoming bitter.
