Description

Marshalls Garden Beetroot 'Bettollo' F1 (300 seeds) produces exceptionally sweet, round roots with intense red colour. Best harvested young as tender baby beets, plants may also be left to mature for larger roots. Sow outdoors direct into the final position, 2.5 cm (1 in) deep, and keep soil consistently moist to avoid woody roots. Thin to 10 cm (4 in) for mature beets or 5 cm (2 in) for baby beets; use thinnings in salads. Protect young plants from frost and cold wind with fleece and twist off tops at harvest to prevent bleeding. Roots store well lifted in sand if kept frost-free.
