Literally translated as "sweet sake" a koji culture converts the carbohydrates from the whole grains into simple sugars giving rise to the naturally sweet flavour of amazake.In Japan Amazake (sometimes spelt Amasake), is normally consumed as a drink where it is diluted with hot water, sieved and drunk as a comforting winter warmer. However, it is very versatile and can also be used to add texture and protein to your favourite fruit smoothie, natural sweetness to pancakes and muffins or as a batter to make dairy-free French Toast.Serve straight from the jar, as a hot or cold dessert topping. You can also use it as a sweetener or as a base for various desserts, hot or cold drinks, topping or ingredient for cakes or pastry.
