The first release in the new Elements series celebrating innovation and creativity in whisky making, and heralds a new era of experimentation with mashing and fermentation. Made in two sizes of mash tun and with two types of wort, cloudy and semi-cloudy.Tasting Notes:Nose: Fresh sea salt, smoky bacon, with notes of strawberry jam and charred pineapple in addition to bonfire embers.Palate: Spicy and peppery with hints of tropical fruit, cloves and liquoriceFinish: Warming and smoky, leading to a sweet, drying and long peated finished- Laphroaig Elements 2.0 59.6% ABVTo create the second edition to the Elements collection, the Laphroaig distillery team were given free rein to produce something unexpected that embodies the Laphroaig profile while adding new dimensions of flavour.Instead of the usual 55 hour fermentation, Elements 2.0 is created from a number of longer fermentations; this ranges up to almost five full days in the tun, for a total of 115 hours. This is specially aerated to maintain mash conditions, like the practices of old. This unprecedented fermentation emphasises the fruitier notes of this exceptional Islay Single Malt, whilst maintaining Laphroaig’s signature peaty character.Nose: Fruity and subtly coastal. Stewed apples, vanilla custard and zesty orange peel with subtle peaty notes.Taste: Fruity, sweet and salty. Green apples and runny honey with cream soda and soft peatiness of a smoldering bonfire and smoked seafood.Finish: Sweet with an increasingly warming smokiness to finish.
