Description
Frankincense has been valued for centuries for its rich, woody aroma. The name itself is thought to originate from the French phrase for high-quality incense, reflecting its long-standing reputation.This essential oil is derived from the Boswellia carterii tree, which grows across parts of Africa, India and the Middle East. Our frankincense oil comes from trees grown in Somalia, and is sourced through a Sedex-registered supplier that supports sustainable and ethical practices.Unlike many essential oils that are extracted from leaves or flowers, frankincense starts as a resin. The trees are carefully tapped once mature, allowing the resin to seep out and harden when exposed to air. This hardened resin is then collected and steam distilled to produce the essential oil.Frankincense oil is also known as olibanum and is widely used in aromatherapy for its grounding and calming scent. It can be used in diffusers or blended with a suitable carrier oil for topical application.
