Mars - The Y.A. #1 Limited Edition Whisky “MARS The Y.A.” is a brand new Japanese whisky made to show how astonishing the whisky matured under the one-of-a-kind environment in Yakushima is.The 1st release is a Blended malt Japanese whisky featuring single malts from “Komagatake (Mars Shinshu distillery)”, and “Tsunuki (Mars Tsunuki distillery)” mainly matured in bourbon barrels.The Yakushima island has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. The climate is hot and tropical with a high percentage of humidity. It is said that “it rains 35 days a month”. This extreme climate also gives Mars a different aging environment from Shinshu and Tsunuki with a higher share of angels.Tasting Notes:Nose: The nose firstly starts on fruits like orange, candied pineapple and banana. Notes of salt and vanilla brings delicacy and complexity. Sweet aroma of caramel maintains the balance.Taste: Following the nose, juicy fruits set the pace. The month has a rich taste that bring us in the lush flora of Yakushima. The refined saltiness is directly reminding the Pacific Ocean all around the island.Finish: The fruitiness is surely the common thread of this Y.A. #1, supported by the sweet taste of the malt.
