The Growing Success Plum Maggot Monitoring Trap is an effective and environmentally friendly way to monitor and manage plum moth infestations in plum, damson, and greengage trees.The pheromone-based trap attracts and captures male moths, helping gardeners assess infestation levels and take action if necessary—without harming beneficial insects.The main cause of maggot damage in plums, damsons, and greengages is the plum fruit moth.In winter, female moths lay eggs in trees, which hatch into caterpillars that burrow into fruit during early summer.These larvae cause significant damage by feeding on the developing fruit.This trap is pesticide-free and safe for organic gardening, providing a natural way to track pest activity without harming beneficial insects.It can monitor up to three average-sized trees within a 12-metre range.The trap uses pheromones to attract male plum moths, preventing them from mating with females.If more than 12 moths per week are captured, this indicates a significant infestation that may require treatment.Hang the trap in early June, when male moths become active. Monitor from June to August, removing the trap in early September.Please note this is a refill and only includes 1x sticky glue insert & 1x monitoring lure.
