The Optimow series from Greenworks tools are our favourite robotic mowers. Robotic mowers have taken the European continent by storm and are now beginning to make inroads into the UK garden market.Yes, they are expensive, several times that of a traditional mower, but the benefits are enormous. In simple terms these mowers mow the lawn for you - nothing for you to do but enjoy the garden, using your free time to your advantage. Programmable so they will mow at any time of day and night, they run nearly silently, so won't keep you or your neighbours awake if they are out at night.Controlled by a boundary wire you place along the edge of your lawn, the robotic mower will mow anything inside the wired zone. But here is the clever bit. It has sensors that mean it will turn back from obstacles it touches, making sure it is safe, and won't damage anything inadvertently left on the lawn.
