Designed to allow the maintenance of living ecosystems inside the terrarium.Carefully blended from a mixture of ingredients to provide the optimum combination of structure, PH and nutrient content. This allows vigorous root development for living plants and a suitable habitat for commensal organisms such as springtails and woodlice.The incorporation of aquatic areas and waterfalls not only adds to the beauty of the terrarium it also creates another dimension of interest. It will turn a terrarium from a functional home for an animal into a display that enhances any living room.Directions:ProRep Bio-Life forest substrate is best to use inside glass or plastic terrariums as it may damage wood vivariums by the moisture held in the substrate.To prevent the substrate becoming waterlogged it is important that adequate drainage is provided. Their large surface area also provides a habitat for millions of beneficial bacteria which are an essential part of the living terrarium ecosystem.Once the drainage layer is in place you should cover with a permeable membrane. This will allow water and oxygen to pass freely, but prevent the substrate from being washed into the drainage layer.Next arrange ProRep BioLife to the depth required, depending on the terrarium occupants and the effect required. For the best effect arrange the layers in banks or terraces, using rocks or wood to create a realistic environment. You can then plant living plants to create the desired habitat.Your local specialist reptile shop can provide more information and advice on creating a planted terrarium.
