The 1-T training ball from Schildkrot has been a very popular, popular training ball for school sports and initial training or for recreational games when larger quantities are required for decades. This new variant of the 1T, the 1T Poly 40+, is now celluloid-free. As early as July 2014, the classic celluloid balls will gradually be replaced by the new plastic/poly balls in tournaments. Today plastic balls have absolutely comparable playing properties and an identical quality and durability. However, they are much more environmentally friendly in production, which is why the changeover was initiated by the ITTF. The plastic balls can be recognised by the + behind 40 (40 stands for the diameter. 40+ is therefore always and uniformly a plastic/poly ball for all manufacturers.
