Description

First Bundeswehr, then as "bucket" just for funHe was just 50 years old - the VW 181, which then rolled over Bundeswehr barracks as a supplement. In the USA, the VW Type 181 also became a legend, a leisure car “just for fun”. His name in the States: The Thing The wannabe all-terrain vehicle had neither four-wheel drive nor all-terrain gear, not to mention ground clearance. When the VW 181 was presented at the IAA 1969, its automotive calling was purely military. The European countries actually wanted to build a jeep counterpart together in the 1960s, but the project was stuck in its infancy. Meanwhile, the Bundeswehr came under pressure because the production of the DKW Munga had ended in 1968. VW traded and placed the Type 181 on a platform frame, the VW Beetle contributed the boxer engine. First presented as a "courier wagon", the 181 was quickly renamed the “Kübelwagen” in the language of the soldiers - in reference to the Wehrmacht vehicle, a designation that was not officially desired by the Bundeswehr. From 1969 to 1980, 140,768 vehicles rolled off the assembly line. Initially in Wolfsburg, then in Hanover and Emden, and finally only at the Mexico location, the VW 181 was used as a multi-purpose vehicle.Year of construction original manufacturer1969-80A modelFresh paint for the "bucket"In the program at the end of the month2020-06Product detailsRapeseed yellow body, chassis with interior and black open top.
