Regional Information

Utiel-Requena is a historic Spanish wine region on elevated plateaus near the Mediterranean coast. Warm sunny days and cool nights allow grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, preserving freshness while developing ripe fruit character and full phenolic maturity.

Vinification Details

After harvest, the grapes are vatted in stainless steel tanks. Alcoholic fermentation takes place over one week at controlled temperature of 24°C, with extraction monitored by daily tasting. Short maceration of 3 days after fermentation. Gentle pressing separates skins and wine. Malolactic fermentation follows for approximately 10 days.

History

The vineyards sit on predominantly red soils rich in iron and well drained. Mediterranean breezes, the range of altitudes, and wide day-to-night temperature variations create an ideal environment for healthy vine growth. These conditions support a slow and balanced grape ripening, enhancing aromatic concentration and full polyphenol maturity, while keeping disease pressure low and allowing vineyard treatments to be minimal, around two per year
