Vinification Details

Aromatic and fresh Sauvignon Blanc flavours were encouraged prior to vintage through careful canopy management. The fruit was de-stemmed and pressed immediately after harvest and a cool fermentation was initiated in stainless steel tanks to retain the clean aromatic fruit characters.

History

From small beginnings in 1973, when Hermann Seifried and his wife Agnes planted grapes in the Moutere Valley near Nelson, this is a family business with a focus and passion for beautifully crafted wines. From modest beginnings when Hermann and Agnes grafted new plants late into the night, to now when the Seifried children have returned home to play their part in growing the family business, Seifried Estate is a company devoted to sustainable winegrowing and producing the very best Nelson has to offer.

Regional Information

Nelson is located at the top of New Zealand's South Island. With over 2,400 hours of sunshine every year, diverse coastlines and native bush, this adds up to a beautiful place to call home. Its wine industry is tiny by international standards, however Nelson's success is often envied. Winemaker's efforts with Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have shown that the region is capable of producing some of the finest wines in the world, gaining international recognition.
