Preparation and Usage
Cooking InstructionsRemove from refrigerator and remove all packaging. Rest at room temperature for 20 minutes before cooking. Pat the rind dry with kitchen paper. Cover the rind evenly with 1 tsp of vegetable oil and pinch of salt, working into the cuts. Place the gammon on a foil lined baking tin and place on the middle shelf of a pre-heated oven and cook for 45 minutes, rotating halfway through cooking time. If the crackling is still a bit soft, keep the oven at the same temperature for another 10 minutes, if crisp, reduce the temperature down and cook for a further 45 minutes.240°C/Fan 220°C/Gas 9, 45 minsReduce temperature and cook for a further: 200°C/Fan 180°C/Gas 6, 45 minsAllow gammon to rest for 15 minutes before carving. Carefully remove the strings with scissors, remove the crackling with a knife and cut into small pieces.CautionThis product contains raw meat. Suitable for freezing. Ideally freeze as soon as possible after purchase but always by 'use by' date shown.
Defrost thoroughly for a minimum of 24 hours in the fridge. Not suitable for cooking from frozen.
Once defrosted use within 24 hours and do not refreeze.
