Preparation and Usage

Preparing your baby's feedBecause powdered milks are not sterile, failure to follow instructions may make your baby ill.Approx. 1 beaker - Amount of cooled, boiled water (ml): 210, Number of level scoops of powder: 7Scoop enclosed. 1 scoop = 4.3g.This information is a guide only. Once weaning has been established, at around 6 months, we recommend 500-600ml of Nannycare Follow On Milk per day as part of your baby's balanced, varied diet. Every baby is different and your baby may need more or less. Ask a healthcare professional if you need more advice.1 Wash your hands and sterilise all equipment according to manufacturer's instructions.2 Boil 1 litre of fresh tap water. Leave to cool for no more than 30 minutes (the temperature needs to be at least 70°C). Do not use water that is artificially softened or has been boiled before. Pour 210ml of water (see feeding guide) into a sterilised beaker. Be careful of scalding.3 Using only the scoop provided, lightly fill with powder and level off with the leveller that is built into the rim of the tin. Add 7 level scoops of powder.4 Place the sterilised lid on the beaker and shake well until the powder is fully dissolved.5 Cool the beaker under a running cold tap until it is lukewarm. Test the temperature on the Inside of your wrist. Feed immediately.Important Feeding Instructions: Use only the 4.3g scoop provided.- Always add one level scoop of powder (4.3g) to each 30ml of cooled, boiled water.- For hygiene reasons, do not store made up feeds.- Use feeds within 2 hours at most.- Always use freshly boiled and cooled water.- Always discard unfinished feeds.- Make up each feed as required.- Do not heat in a microwave as hot spots may occur and cause scalding.- Do not add extra scoops of powder, or anything else to your baby's feed.- Do not leave your child alone during feeding.

Important Notice: Breastfeeding is best. Follow on milk is only for babies over 6 months, as part of a healthy, varied diet. It should not be used as a breastmilk substitute before 6 months and should be used on the advice of a health care professional. The decision to start weaning, especially before 6 months, should be made only on the advice of a health care professional responsible for maternal and child care, based on your baby's individual needs. Introduce a cup from 6 months and avoid prolonged contact of milk feeds with your baby's teeth. Make sure your baby's teeth are cleaned after the last feed at night.
