Preparation and Usage
Just add butter & eggsHandy TipIf your dough gets sticky when rolling, sprinkle a little flour on to your rolling pin and doughHow to Make1 Prepare- Make sure your butter is softened - if still hard, pop it in the microwave for 5-10 seconds until soft.2 Mix- In a mixing bowl cream your butter with a spoon until pale then add your biscuit mix and 1 medium egg (beaten). Mix for a further 1-2 mins until combined.- Knead the dough for a few minutes using your hands, until it becomes a firm ball then divide your dough in half, set half the dough to one side.- Take the other half and divide equally into two small bowls. In one bowl, add 1/2 a teaspoon of cocoa powder and mix with a spoon, then roll between your hands until it's a light brown colour. In the other bowl, add 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder and mix as before until you have a dark brown colour [add more cocoa to each dough if you want to adjustthe colours.] You now have one large plain dough and 2 smaller doughs, (one light brown, one dark brown).- Cover your 3 pieces of dough in cling film and pop in fridge for an hour to firm up [or 15 minutes infreezer if you are short on time]З Вake- Preheat your oven to 180°C / 160°C Fan / Gas 4.- Now your dough is chilled you can roll it out.Place a piece of baking parchment on the work surface and sprinkle over a little flour. Roll out your plain dough to about 0.5cm thick.- Decorate the plain dough with your light brown and dark dough to create animal prints... see how on our helpful tutorial by scanning this qr code.- Lay a piece of parchment over your animal print dough and flatten using a rolling pin.- Use your cutters to cut out your animal shapes, push down firmly on the cutter then give it a little wiggle.Handy Tip: Dip your cutters in a little flour before using so that the dough comes out easily.- Use a spatula or flat knife to lift your dough shapes onto your lined baking tray, keeping approx 50mm space between each one.- Bake for approximately 8 mins or until they re slightly darker round the edges.- Once ready remove from the oven and leave to cool, use a wire rack if you have one.
