Description

Unsmoked rindless dry cured bone in gammon joint with spice rub and muscovado glaze.Tesco Finest dry cure gammon is cured by hand to a traditional recipe developed by the legendary Woodall family of Cumbria, who first began curing gammon back in 1828. Our British outdoor bred pigs are selected for their superior succulence and flavour. The pork in this product comes from producers inspected to RSPCA welfare standards by the RSPCA's independently certified farm assurance scheme.Traditionally cured by hand using the Woodall's family recipe and air dried in a spiced rub, with a muscovado glaze. Oven

Instructions: 200°C/Fan 180°C/Gas 6 Chilled: 25mins per 500g Remove all packaging, keeping strings in place and set glaze sachet to one side. Allow the joint to rest at room temperature for 30 minutes. Take 2 long pieces of foil, place one horizontally across a roasting tray and the other vertically. Place the joint in the middle of the tray, allow enough foil to fold up together creating a tent over the gammon, taking care that the foil does not touch the gammon. Cook in the centre of a pre-heated oven. 10 minutes before the end of the cook remove joint from the oven, carefully uncover the foil from the top pf the joint, then remove the strings with scissors. Open both of the glaze sachets and pour the contents evenly over the joint and return the the oven for a further 10 minutes. Take joint out of the oven and allow to rest for 30 minutes before carving. For best results, carve across the width of the joint using a sharp, flat edged knife. Baste the gammon joint with the remaining glaze from the baking tray and serve.

Microwave from frozen

Instructions: Not suitable for microwave cooking.

Storage

Suitable for freezing. Ideally freeze as soon as possible after purchase but always by 'use by' date shown. Follow the preparation guidelines above. Once defrosted use within 24 hours and do not refreeze. Not suitable for cooking from frozen. Defrost thoroughly for a minimum of 24 hours in the fridge. Keep refrigerated. Once opened, consume within 2 days and by 'use by' date shown.
