Citra hops are the main contributor, with Centennial and Chinook in a supporting role, alongside some UK Pilgrim for bittering. This whips up a surge of tropical fruit and flashes of pine, white grape and citrus, quickly followed by a crack of rye spice. It’s inspired by the ghost stories surrounding the ships lost to storms in Southwold's Sole Bay.
Double Ghost IPA is the latest addition to the Ghost Ship fleet and a shipmate to Adnams’ best-selling beers Ghost Ship 4.5% Pale Ale and Ghost Ship 0.5% Pale Ale. Its stormy artwork by artist, Vanessa Sorboen, is a nod to the tales of ill-fated ships stranded during storms on the shoals and the sandbanks of the Sole Bay in Southwold. It is the resting place of hundreds of shipwrecks and unsurprisingly the source of many a ghost story.
