Preparation and Usage
Cooking time: 14-16 minutes
Method: Oven
You will need:
1 medium egg
4 tbsp (60ml) / 1-2 tsp (5-10ml) water
85g softened unsalted butter
cupcake or muffin tray
Method:
Cupcakes:
1. Pre-heat oven to 180ºC / Fan 160ºC / Gas 4.
2. Place the bun cases into a cupcake tray. Empty the cake mix sachet into a large bowl and add 1 medium egg and 4 tbsp (60ml) water and mix with an electric whisk for 1-2 minutes until combined.
3. Divide the mixture between the cupcake cases and bake in the centre of the oven for 14-16 minutes until risen.
4. Cool in the tins for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Icing:
1. Empty the yellow icing mix sachet (and keep the sachet for later use) into a bowl, add 85g softened unsalted butter and mix well until light and fluffy.
2. Empty the orange icing sachet (and keep the sachet for later use) into a bowl and add 1-2 tsp (5-10ml) cold water, mix until smooth and firm.
3. Place both icings back into the sachets and carefully snip the corner of the yellow and orange icing sachet to create a piping bag.
4. Once cooled top the cupcakes with the yellow icing to create the body of the chick and use the orange icing, green sprinkles and wafer eyes to create the features.
