Vinification Details

Mechanical harvesting. Draining and pneumatic pressing of the harvest. Vinification in temperature-controlled vats (controlled temperature between 16 to 18°C). Systematic malolactic fermentation followed by ageing on fine lees to preserve the full potential of the wine until bottling.

History

Cave de Lugny, the largest vine growing cooperative in the Burgundy region, was founded in 1926 by Henry Boulay.

Regional Information

Mâcon-Lugny is produced exclusively in the commune of Lugny. This appellation, which includes 163 ha of vines, is a virtual monopoly of the Cave de Lugny who own more than 90% of the vineyard. The vineyard is made up of plateaus and hillsides facing mainly south / south-east, on a predominantly clay-limestone soil. The average age of the vines is about 35 years.
