Description

Devil's Corner Chardonnay 750ml In growing our grapes where the fertile ground meets the rugged sea, each Devil's Corner wine bears the mark of our home in the wild: bold and humble; fearless yet considered. A youthful, dry Chardonnay with melon and nectarine aromas, this wine is equal parts creamy and crisp, with a palate of bright citrus notes and refreshing cool-climate acidity. A uniquely Tasmanian Chardonnay, from a place unlike anywhere else.
Our home on Tasmania's East Coast may be wild and unpredictable - our wines are anything but.

Vinification Details

This vintage was low yielding, producing a lower amount of fruit, but providing excellent fruit intensity. Once pressed, the grape juice was run off into both tank and barrel immediately. 85% was fermented in stainless steel for freshness, while 15% was fermented in barrel for texture, depth and complexity. The wine then spent several months in older French oak combining both the fresh, crisp green apple fruit and the soft, creaminess and toast elements of the oak.

History

Devil's Corner has been producing exceptional wines since the late 1990's, however in 2005 the brand truly became established with the development of the Hazards vineyard on the East Coast of Tasmania. Our home winery on the East Coast of Tasmania is a place like no other: wild, and wildly rewarding; with spectacular views to the Freycinet Peninsula, Moulting Lagoon and The Hazards mountain range.

Regional Information

Here in Tasmania, we are blessed with a true cool climate, which allows for the slow development of flavours and aromas in the grapes and retention of acidity. This is key to making so many of the great wines of the world and is especially ideal for delicate red varieties like Pinot Noir and amazing expressions of whites like Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Chardonnay.
