Vinification Details

Made with Cinsault, Carmenere and Sauvignon Blanc grapes which were all hand harvested. The wine was then fermented for 12 months in stainless steel. It was then aged for 5 months.

History

More than 100 years ago, Don Melchor de Concha y Toro reserved for himself an exclusive batch of his best wines. To keep strangers away from his private reserve, he spread the rumour that the Devil lived in his cellar. Hence the name: Casillero del Diablo (The Devil's Cellar)

Regional Information

The grapes used to created this wine were grown in the Itata Valley. This valley can be considered as one of the pioneers of wine growing in Chile since the first vines were planted around the 1550s. Cinsault is the most popular grape grown in the Itata Valley wine region. It is a dark-skinned variety hardly ever used as a varietal wine. Cinsault is mainly blended with other grapes. This wine is a blend of Cinsault, Carmenere and Sauvignon Blanc.
