Vinification Details

To achieve the desired colour, most of the juice was drained directly after crushing, with some blocks receiving up to two hours of skin contact. Each variety was handled separately and fermented cold at 14°C to retain the delicate aromas and flavours. The final blending of varieties created complexity, consistency and balance before bottling.

History

Few places in the world can claim to have all a wine lover could desire. Boschendal winery is one such unique destination. Only an hour's drive from Cape Town, this magnificent winery is situated in the picturesque Groot Drakenstein. Boschendal lays claim to a proud winemaking tradition stretching back to the late 17th century.

Regional Information

The Coastal Region is located in the Western Cape, and accounts for half of the vineyard area in South Africa. Encompassing amongst others, Stellenbosch, Paarl, and Constantia, the area is closely linked with South Africa's viticultural history. Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and mountain ranges to the south and east, the topography of the region creates a cooler maritime climate near to the coast and a more settled Mediterranean climate further inland.
