Description

Fresh Class A free range bronze turkey crown.A slow growing breed from select British farms with a naturally varied diet for a full flavour and succulent texture. Our Tesco Finest turkeys are free range and raised on British farms dedicated to the highest welfare standards where they have plenty of room to roam, eat fresh grass and forage naturally. Exercise, a varied diet and the fact they grow more slowly gives bronze turkeys a fuller flavour and more succulent texture. The traditional bronze turkey breed has dark feathers which, when plucked, may leave small coloured marks on the skin. These will not affect the meat quality and will decrease in appearance upon cooking. This free range turkey comes from producers inspected to RSPCA welfare standards by the RSPCA's independently certified farm assurance scheme. Preparation and Usage

Carving instructions:

Rest the turkey for 30 minutes after cooking. Use a sharp knife to cut the breast meat into thick slices, cutting against the grain to keep the slices even. Transfer to warm plates and serve with all the trimmings and lashings of gravy.

Oven

Instructions: FOR CALCULATED COOKING TIMES, SEE LABEL ON FRONT OF PACK 190°C / Fan 160°C/ Gas 5 Remove outer packaging. Do not remove the drip pad and foil tray. No need to wash poultry before cooking. If stuffing is required, it is recommended that this is cooked separately. Place the crown in its foil tray in a roasting tin, rub oil or melted butter all over the skin and season with salt and pepper and cover loosely with foil. Place in the centre of a pre-heated oven. Remove foil for the last 40 minutes of cooking time. Baste turkey crown occasionally during cooking process (typically 2-4 times depending on the size). Poultry is cooked if the juices run clear when the deepest part of the breast is pierced with a thin skewer. If the juices are pink, continue cooking for a further 15 minutes and retest. Repeat every 15 minutes until juices run clear. After cooking time, allow to rest for 30 minutes before carving.

Microwave

Instructions: Not suitable for microwave cooking.

Storage

Suitable for freezing. Ideally freeze as soon as possible after purchase but always by 'use by' date shown. Defrost thoroughly for a minimum of 10-20 hours in the fridge. Follow the preparation guidelines above. Not suitable for cooking from frozen. Once defrosted use within 24 hours and do not refreeze. Keep refrigerated below 4°C.
