Storage

Suitable for home freezing. Ideally freeze as soon as possible after purchase but always by 'use by' date shown. Once defrosted use on the same day and do not refreeze. Follow the preparation guidelines above. Not suitable for cooking from frozen. Defrost thoroughly for a minimum of 12 hours in the fridge. Keep refrigerated. Once opened, consume within 24 hours and by ‘use by’ date shown.

Cooking Instructions

Microwave

Instructions: Not suitable for microwave cooking.

Shallow Fry
Instructions: Pan fry 3-12 mins Rub or brush the steak with a little oil and season with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Heat a heavy based frying pan over high heat for 2-3 minutes until smoking. Place steak in a dry pan and cook over a high heat for 1 minute each side. Reduce heat to medium and continue to cook for a further 30 seconds - 1 minute each side (rare), 2-3 minutes each side (medium) or 4-5 minutes each side (well done). Allow steak to rest for 3 minutes before serving. These instructions are given as a guideline only as steak thickness will vary slightly.

Cooking Precautions

  • Always wash hands, surfaces and utensils thoroughly after contact with raw meat.

Awful

Awful ,they looked lovely and lean but were so fat and gristley we couldn't finish them,would not buy again ,hopefully Tesco will read this and previous reviews and perhaps do some quality control.

So thick they burn on outside while raw inside.

Am used to searing steaks 1-2 mins each side for rare to medium rare. These were so thick even after 5 mins a side they were too rare for me. After more frying than should be for good steaks, they were cooked but so tough they had to be cubed and stewed to be edible. Won't buy again.

tough as leather

steak was awful- tough and full of gristle. I could not chew mine and gave most of it to the dog,my husband ate his but was not impressed for finest steak. Will definately not buy again, Tesco please note .

Fatty and tough

We've bought steaks from the finest range before and always thought they were good but the rump steaks we had tonight were awful... such a shame. So much fat running through the whole thing we couldn't eat it at all and ended up binning both steaks. Definitely won't be buying again.

Gristle and fat

Very disappointed with these steaks. When cooked they were very tough and chewey with quite a lot of sinue on them. My husband did eat his but I threw more than half of mine in the bin. Would not buy again.

We were really looking forward to having a nice steak dinner but the meat was so tough that we could not eat it. Very disappointed.
