Keep refrigerated. Once opened use within 2 days, taking care not to exceed the use by date. If freezing, freeze on day of purchase and use within one month. Defrost thoroughly in a refrigerator before use and consume within 24 hours. This product may have been previously frozen and defrosted under controlled conditions.

Boil

Instructions: Important - This is a raw product and must be fully cooked prior to consumption.Three quarter fill a large pan with boiling water. Remove all packaging and carefully place the ham hough into the water making sure it is completely submerged. Place a lid on the pan and bring the water back to the boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for approximately 2 hours. The hough is cooked properly once the meat is tender enough to remove from the bone with no resistance. Once cooked, carefully remove from the water. Place on a chopping board and cool for a few minutes before removing the meat from the bone. The ham stock left in the pan can be saved and used as the base for a hearty soup. Use the boiled ham in soups, stews, casseroles, or simply enjoy with potatoes and a salad.
