I have been a vegetarian for over 35 years and tried many sausages. I have to say these are the worst sausages I have ever tried. Horrible texture and no taste. Bought on impulse, that will teach me. Richmond meat free sausages are a lot lot lot lot lot better!
Sorry,never again. Awful taste
I thought I'll give these a try and they are simple to cook. But they tasted awful and I won't be buying them again.
Tried these as a result of a replacement in a delivery as the vegan Cumberland sausages were unavailable, and was very happy with the option.2 were fried and into 2 slices of wholemeal bread they went with Flora plant butter,a smear of Vegemite and similar of Tesco English mustard, producing one of the best sausage sandwiches I have ever had. Whatever has been tried of the Plant Chef range so far has been very tasty and reasonably priced, and there are a lot of items in this pack making for very good value.I will be working my way through the range to find out what is what while completely ignoring negative reviews such as the ones found on this page, with 2 jars of Coconut Korma on the order here as the next.Being very happy with Plant Chef quality and prices,it is compliments again to Tesco for trying hard for vegans.
Pretty tasty! Been keen to try all different kinds
Pretty tasty! Been keen to try all different kinds of faux-meat and the like and I decided to give these a bash. They're not the most flavourful, but they definitely aren't a 1 star! Had three in a sandwich with some brown sauce and I was pleasantly surprised! Not too bad Tesco, not too bad. Would recommend as long as you compliment them with some sauce or that, ha.
These chipolatas are amazing!
Plant Chef is the best! These chipolatas are amazing providing you follow the instruction. I have to keep reminding myself they are not meat.
Would have given it 0 stars if I could!! Wish I'd read the reviews first - these are one of the most disgusting things I've ever tried. Ended up in the bin. Generally bland but with the most awful flavour of cloves. Didnt even need to check the packet to know they contained cloves as the sausages were so foul. YUCK YUCK YUCK
Fry them up with Soy Sauce for great results! :)
I haven't eaten animal parts for over seven years and tend to stay away from mock meat as it usually contains too much wheat gluten so I saw these & thought I'd give them a go- pleased I did. I read the one star reviews before eating and thought, oh no! But if you fry them up well, add some tamari or soy sauce, they're really good - I tried them without the tamari and yes, they need a little something....for authenticity there is a casing around them and whatever its made from, I'm sure its better for you than the animal skin in meat sausages. Also, I was pleasantly surprised at the wide range of plant based options you now stock! Well done Tesco! :)
Such a shame.... but completely tasteless :-(
I love the ‘Plant Chef’ range, but these sausages are completely tasteless and have a weird texture. A real shame and a let down.
Bad example of vegan food
If you are a meat eater, please do not judge all vegan food by these. They are foul. The sausage itself has a weird texture and is tasteless. They have a strange, skin like membrane around them. We do not waste food in this house, but these went in the bin!
