Inedible.
I have often bought Youngs tempura fillets which were Basa fillets. Foolishly, I assumed that's what these are, but didn't spot that they had changed the fish to pollock. It was slimy and grey and totally inedible. Even the coating was nothing like it used to be. I hate wasting food, but it all went in the bin. Never again.
Very nice.
Lovely crispy batter
love it!
Always love this fish. I cook it in an air fryer alongside real fresh cut chips and it turns out perfect every time, 20 minutes and both are cooked to perfection light and fluffy fish with lovely crispy outer.
nice fish
Thank you to whoever suggested that you cook this fish on a tray lined with greaseproof paper. It makes such a difference to the result. It doesn't stick to the tray like it does without the paper and it crisps up well.
Poor quality fish
Poor quality fish, very thin and grey. Going back to Tesco's own brand.
Superb!
really really good fish! The batter is absolutely delicious, almost tastes like biscuits or something (sounds odd but its so so tasty). I will say however, that if you cook it straight on an oven tray it will stick to the tray and go "mushy" (probably something to do with the fact that it is frozen and defrosts in the oven or something) so I recommend cooking it on a sheet of baking parchment and flipping it over halfway through cooking. Splendid once you know how to cook it! A new favourite.
in all
I too cannot understand the vituperatively negative reviews on this product and query those particular consumers' cooking methods? I cooked mine in my air fryer along side a few Tesco's Homestyle crinkle cut chips. Chips in first, fish fillet about 5 mins later 190C for 18 minutes in toto. Absolutely gorgeous, enjoyed every mouthful with homemade tartare sauce.
Scrumptious
Abolutely delicious. A beautiful fillet of in delightfull batter.
Absolute rubbish
Absolutely disappointed don’t believe what you see on the package, if your lucky then Ok but I’ve had some really bad fish that’s been thrown in the bin. Don’t let your expectations run away with the packaging it very poor budget fish you wouldn’t feed a cat with. This is not the first time but on the odd occasion I’ve had a decent one just to balance but more often than not it’s very poor.
not good
The 'tempura' looked like old breadcrumbs found down the back of a fryer, but at least the fish tasted good after all the 'tempura' was scraped off.
