Inedible. Just tasted of garlic!
We haven't had Finest meals for a long time, but used to like them. This was meant to be our "no cooking" treat. It looked very good - lots of mince in gravy. Then I licked the serving spoon and it was revolting!. Tasted of nothing except overpowering garlic. That one tiny taste filled my mouth with a horrid acrid garlic taste and feeling, that I couldn't get rid of with milk, dessert, etc. Why is there garlic in such a traditional British dish as cottage pie? I'm not a fussy eater and we happily eat the real cheapo cottage pies , so if we think it's inedible, it must be bad. I see other reviews mention garlic, so this was not a one-off accident.
Weird after taste
Weird after taste and mash bit soggy like Smash potato. This was a very strange tasting cottage pie - far from finest!
This literally has NO taste whatsoever. I can't even say it tastes of cardboard.
Cottage Pie, Tesco’s Finest! omg, disappointing [
Cottage Pie, Tesco’s Finest! omg, disappointing [ element of shock perhaps] In an age where more and more people need something quick n easy having to eat this again… I’d go without Never again. 1 star, I don’t hate-it, I didn’t like-it either Really Tesco, you need to try harder… and create a dish to look forward too Quick, easy and tasty. Better with ingredients required The potato was just-about-ok. The [ looked like] mince and gravy, just not nice at all I’m not a cuisine connoisseur by any means… and will eat almost anything But not this Cottage Pie from TESCO’S Finest range!!
tato for everyone!
litreally just all potato with a dash of mince.. its not even worthy of being called a cottage pie
Listed ingredients suggest flavour rich; it isn't!
Far from being 'Finest' quality, with a "rich, intense flavour," this cottage pie is tasteless. Maybe it's to do with the use of vegetable rather than beef gravy, as well as cheese-paring when it came to condiment use. I could discern no red wine, Dijon mustard, onion and garlic or sea salt, that's for sure. I realise others may not want salt but, like soup, this sort of dish needs it during the cooking process.
Not enough beef.
Not very meaty. Bought this as part of the dine in offer & was disappointed. The meat to potato quantity was about 15% meat and gravy 85%Mash. What meat there was was delicious & the same with the mash. Just waaay off with the ratios. Doesn't look like the picture on the packaging
Not finest quality at all poor effort
We where not impressed and don’t think this should be in the finest range very poor effort by my favourite shop poor quality at best
Tasty & Good Size Portion
Very tasty and good quality mince. No nasties to be found at all. Went well with the cabbage trio and a drop of instant gravy.
Great quality, tasty meal with good portion size for 2.
