Tortoise Shell Pie
No soggy bottoms with this pie, the base was rock hard and inedible, upside down it resembled a tortoise shell. The rest of the pastry was thick, tough and unpleasant to eat. The filling was edible though not at all moreish and not very tender. Doesn't live up to the fancy description and not worth the money.
Not one redeeming feature
If you like a brown smoked bacon pie this is the pie for you. Dreadful The smoked bacon was overpowering, no idea why you want that in a beef and red wine pie any way, few lumps of chewy something - presume that was beef in a brown glue. Also an odd cheesy taste - wondered if there was Stilton in it - checked the ingredients - nope! You need excellent knives to attack the pastry - a saw might be better. Appalled that this is sold as Tesco 'Finest' - heaven help the 'every day'. Please, Tesco take note of your reviewers and remove this product.

Paid extra for what I thought would be a superior
Paid extra for what I thought would be a superior pie. Pastry was hard, beef chewy would not buy again. Certainly not Tesco’s “ Finest “
Waste of money.
I have had better pies from the cheep range in the fridge at Tesco, how this can be advertised as finest is unbelievable. The pastry was hard and thick, not as described. The red wine sauce was tasteless, there was very little steak and must have been from a cheep cut. Don't waste your money.
What a disappointment for a "Finest" pie. The meat was tough and not even chewable. The red wine gravy wasn't nice either. Absolutely dreadful... do not buy!
Avoid at all costs
This pie is totally inedible do not buy it under any circumstances the meat is two chunks of tough horrid meat, where did it come from ? this pie is certainly not Finest!!
This was very disappointing. Pastry hard, meat tough. Bought this to give myself a day off from baking my own but wish I hadn't.
Shocking, absolutely awful. Pastry was like cardboard. The steak filling was inedible,it really was ‘tough as old boots’. I’m amazed that this considered part of the finest range. This particular product needs withdrawing immediately. How difficult can it be to produce a pie with light and tasty pastry and ‘steak’ that is half way edible? C’mon Tesco’s you’ve let yourself down here. Please do better!
I’ve never written a review before but, if this i
I’ve never written a review before but, if this is your Finest, I dread to think what the quality of your standard pie would be. Pastry was hard, too thick and very stodgy. Meat, such as there was, tough and chewy and there was very little gravy. It didn’t taste of anything much. Bought this as an easy meal but we threw away most of the pastry and are still picking the meat out from between our teeth! Certainly won’t buy again! Wish I’d looked at the reviews before purchasing!
