Cater for those who eat some meat products & meat
My son got it, lovely cheesy mild taste and THANKYOU for not making ALL cheese vegetarian. It makes sense to have at least SOME MEAT and animal products because the best types of agriculture, BIODYNAMIC is even better than organic, good for the planet, environment, good for wildlife, sustainability and you. Vegetarians & vegans have it wrong, they should not stop eating ALL animal products, all of the time. It is not helping anyone but the laboratories.
Great quality cheese, non-veggie (get over it!)
Very good parmesan alternative. Like Parmigiano this traditional Italian cheese is NON-vegetarian, it's one of its peculiar features. Whoever feels betrayed by Tesco for making it possible does not understand what's behind the high standards required for a product to obtain the status of "protected designation of origin (PDO)". My advice to them is "get over it, instead of posting 3 times the same review". This cheese has nothing to envy from Parmigiano Reggiano and costs much less (same in Italy). I would definitely recommend if you want to add some umami flavour to your gratin or as ideal accompaniment to pasta dishes. However, since this is not super-cured, it also goes well in small chunks as an appetizer, with a sip of red wine and matches very well with acacia honey and grilled pepper or tomato slices.
You Italian hard cheese was vegetarian but this stuff isn't. That's really really annoying. It doesn't really impact the flavour to a typical home cook but excludes a lot of people from eating it. Just disappointing.
good for the price
good for what you pay although competitors "Li.l" gets better one... don't understand 1 start rating because it's not "vegetarian"? Grana Padano is not vegetarian cheese nor it is "Italian hard cheese" (whatever that might be)
I feel betrayed and abandoned by Tesco!
Tesco why have you forsaken us!!! Your "value" italian style hard cheese was also vegetarian but now it includes animal rennet. Why?!
Very bland cheese
Very bland cheese - as devoid of flavour as a young, mild cheddar.
As good as Parmigiano-Reggiano
Good quality. Delicious. As good as more expensive Parmigiano-Reggiano.
Come on Tesco, how about us vegetarians?!
Come on Tesco what have you done? Your "value" italian style hard cheese was also vegetarian but now it includes animal rennet. Why?! The non-vegetarians have lots of choices but you've now taken mine away. Thanks!!!
Great Price, Good Flavour & High in Protein! As recommendation, once opened, store it in a sealed container to slow it going "hard" in the fridge.
Lovely cheese but weight reduced!
Lovely cheese for grating over pasta. Shame they reduced the size down from 200grams to 175grams - price stayed the same though!
