The Merlot grapes are picked at optimum ripeness - great care and gentle handling of the grapes throughout the wine making process ensures that this New Zealand wine is perfectly balanced. The wine is then aged to perfection with French oak.

History

At Wairau Cove we start with the basics - great soil and plenty of sunshine. Our grapes come from some of the best wine territory on earth, regions famous for the quality of their wines, with environments that burst from every drop.

Regional Information

Famous for apple, pear and stone fruit orchards, mountains to the west combine with ocean to the east to deliver warm summers and temperate winters. 2,200 hours of sunshine every year makes Hawke's Bay a lifestyler's dream, with the enviable climate and laidback maritime vibe helping to make the region's wines so special. Red is the colour of our wine here, and though we knock out world beating Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Gris, it's our reds that lead the charge.
