You should always soak a gammon
You should always soak a gammon for a minimum of an hour max 72 changing the water regularly if roasting or boiling. I dont know why people are complaining, I thought it was common knowledge. Delicious when cooked properly.
Succulent roast with perfect instructions
Absolutely beautiful, cooked as intended and was lovely hot and cold!
Far too salty to eat when simply roasted.
Far far far too salty. After following the cooking instructions we simply could not eat it. Going to try soaking the rest of the cooked joint and frying up in a stir fry. If you are going to buy this joint, I would suggest soaking in cold water over night in a fridge, discarding the water and bringing to the boil in fresh water When boiling discard water and replace. Bring back to simmer for 20mins. Then roast for about half the time stated on the packet. Check if fully cooked before serving. Not sure what it would taste like after this , may be too bland?? But at least the salt won’t get you
Salty inedible gammon.
Disgusting Gammon. This gammon ruined our lunch. It was tough, extremely salty (just like eating neat salt) and inedible. From the EU. Waste of electricity to cook it. Avoid at all costs. Why can’t supermarkets provide us with British pork?
Low fat and tasty
Lovely lean healthy meat. We had it with broad beans (Tesco small frozen) and parsley sauce (parsley from the garden)
Too much fat
This ham tastes OK but after cooking, the weight of useless, inedible fat that had to be taken off the joint weighed 188g. The pre-cooked weight was only 700g so over 25% fat, which I think is unacceptable and will complain.
Sometimes this can be lovely, but it is often overly salty and tough. The quality is unreliable.
Full of flavor and moist but, oh so salty. Reminded me of when one would soak a gammon joint overnight. Had this been the instruction it would have been perfect.
Great little joint for 2 tasty and tender.
Lovely taste but very salty
The quality and taste of the meat was lovely. It roasted well and was not dry. All this was spoiled by how salty it is. The only way round this for me was to eat it cold, but first slice it and run it under the tap, which helped. Hence only 3 stars which is a pity.
