Good quality claret from an unexpected region
This is an excellent claret. It is medium bodied and reasonably complex. Good fruit flavours and enough "bite" to suiggest it will keep and improve for a while. At this price I think it is really good value and I will be buying again (already have done). But if you can get a case deal, it's a steal. My feeling is that this winery has more to give and I will be watching closely. More please.
Good but not great
The big build up in the write up on this wine promised a meeting of old vines imported from Portugal and grown in China for well over 100 years, then brought up to date with the Moser family wealth of 13 generations of wine growing experience in Portugal. But apart from the label being written partially in Chinese there isn't really anything particularly stand out. I would prefer a good Douro at similar money. I tried it with the cork just pulled, then left to breathe for an hour and then for several hours more. Not any noticeable improvement. Its not unpleasant, indeed quite drinkable, just a bit of a let down after the description. If they had been more honest I most likely would have given a four star rating. And a £1 less a bottle would be more realistic.
