Initial aromas of lime and citrus blossom are beautifully intertwined with a ‘fruit salad' of tropical fruits. These flavours follow on the palate, and, owing to the rich texture and elegant minerality, ensure that there is a very long finish.

Vinification Details

All the vineyard parcels were harvested to optimum ripeness and vinified separately. The wines are fermented at low temperatures with selected yeast strains to highlight each vineyard's specific characteristics. After fermentation the wine was left for a further 3 months in contact with the lees, to develop a rich mid-palate, before putting the final blend together.

History

Kleine Zalze is a family owned winery situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands just two miles from Stellenbosch. Winemaking has taken place there on a small scale since 1695 but it was in 1996, when Kobus Basson and his family purchased the property, that the modern Kleine Zalze was born. Today, the winery is one of the most awarded in Stellenbosch.
