One of our growers, the Taylor family have been farming in North Shropshire for hundreds of years. They grow organic potatoes in a sustainable rotation with a range of other complementary crops, which benefit from the free draining light sandy soil there. Nick is deeply passionate about organic farming and over the last 20 years has been the driving force on the family farm in progressing and scaling up these more environmentally sensitive methods. Focusing on specially selected potato varieties that have natural pest resistance, taking extra care to improve soil health through timely irrigation and green manuring and providing farmland havens for beneficial wildlife all help him to grow better crops without the use of artificial fertilisers or pesticides.

Preparation and Usage


For boiled: Empty potatoes in saucepan and cover with boiling water. Return to the boil, cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until tender. Drain and serve. Add fresh mint during boiling for added flavour.


For steamed: Place potatoes into steamer. Cover and steam for 20-25 minutes or until tender.


Place half the pack into a microwaveable container. Add 2 tablespoons of water, cover and cook on full power. Leave to stand for 1 minute after heating.

Crushed potatoes with spinach and capers


  • 1kg (2lb) new potatoes, halved lengthways
  • 30g (1oz) butter
  • 30ml (2 tbsp) olive oil
  • 2 onions, finely sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp capers, rinsed and drained
  • 300g (10oz) baby spinach
  • 1/2 lemon, squeezed, plus extra wedges to serve

Boil the potatoes for 10 minutes or until just tender, then drain.

Meanwhile, heat the butter and oil in a sauté pan, add the onions and fry for 5 minutes or until softened. Add the garlic and capers and fry for another minute. Next, add the potatoes and crush lightly with the back of a fork.

Add the spinach and stir until it has just wilted. Squeeze over the lemon juice, season, then serve.
