Made from premium Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from Chile's renowned Colchagua Valley, this red is deep in colour and brimming with blackcurrant and plum flavours. A portion of the blend has been aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, which helps add roundness and complexity, the result is full bodied with a long, rich and smooth finish

Vinification Details

The grapes are hand-picked and then mechanically processed and delivered to the winery where they are gently de-stemmed and crushed and sent to fermentation vessels where yeast is added and the wine ferments at 28 degrees for 7 days. This is followed by a malolactic fermentation and then a portion of the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. The final blend is assembled and the wine is then filtered and made ready for bottling.

History

Four important geographic bodies surround the Chilean wine growing region: the Andes Mountains to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Atacama Desert to the north and ancient glaciers to the south. Other determining factors, such as abundant luminosity, significant daily temperature variation, dry weather during ripening season and fresh Andean irrigation water, contribute to the production of pure and wholesome grapes.

Regional Information

The Colchagua Valley is located in the southern sector of the greater Rapel Valley. The vineyards are irrigated by the Tinguiririca River, the climate is temperate throughout the year, its maritime influence moderating extreme temperatures. The vineyards stretch to the foothills of the Andes Mountains and must be carefully managed to control the soil´s natural vigour.
