  • Sauvignon Gris - White New Zealand Wine
  • A great match for seafood, especially pan seared salmon, this wine will also pair well with pork and chicken based dishes. The 2014 vintage won Silver Outstanding at the International Wine Challenge 2015. The IWC is accepted as the world's finest and most meticulously judged wine competition.
  • Best served lightly chilled. This Sauvignon Gris is a rich, textural wine with vibrant aromas, Sauvignon Gris has been causing quite a stir on the New Zealand wine scene and is extremely easy to match with a wide range of cuisines and dishes. Sauvignon Gris is an ancient French grape variety, now most commonly found in the Bordeaux region.
  • Although it shares a passing resemblance to the characters associated with both Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris, it is not a blend of these wines, but rather a variety in its own right.

History

  • Since planting the first Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir in 1975, Brancott Estate has continued to craft striking wines that suit every occasion, including oak-infused and age-worthy expressions of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. savignon gris Brancott

5 stars

Review from tesco.com

Not to sure about reviews as I favourabley reviewed a wine once and the following week they sold out never to renew the vintage! This is a big vineyard though and I do not hesitate to say that this is an underrated wine perhaps due to the unusual blend of grape. Very good value for money

The New Sauvignon?

4 stars

Review from tesco.com

Richer and more voluptuous in texture than Sauvignon Blanc, with ripe fruit flavours of mango and melon as well as citrus and peach. A broader palate and more complex than the Blanc. Do not over chill as this takes a lot out of the wine.

Excellent wine

Tried this wine and wasn't expecting to like it! What a mistake - loved it!! Far better than the sauvignon blanc - not so dry! Bought it a few times -particulary good value when it's on offer!

A softer approach ?

4 stars

Review from tesco.com

If you are looking for an alternative to NZ sauvignon blanc then this could be for you. It is a slightly softer and more rounded wine compared to its more famous cousin and is well worth a good consideration ( especially when on offer ;-) )

Brancott Estate Sauvignon Gris

5 stars

Review from tesco.com

I just love this wine. I find it less acidic than a sauvignon blanc and with lovely flavour. It was at such a good price that I had to stock up! I'm no wine expert so not going to be able to say what aromas and flavours are present...but I do know what I like and this is it. Will continue to buy this when it's on offer.

Top quality wine

Review from tesco.com

If you like the Brancott Sauvignon Blanc then you will definitely like this. A bit fuller than the Blanc. Very moreish!

Alcohol !!

Review from tesco.com

I have tried most New Zealand SB's and wanted to try something slightly different and although the flavours are there with this wine, so is an unpleasant after taste of alcohol! It reminds me a bit of years long gone and mixing too much vodka with the orange juice! Currently Brancotts 2016 SB is a much better choice and if you can get it on offer try their Terroir Series SB from 2015 for a treat.

Excellent

Love this wine which has become a house staple. Fuller bodied and rounder than the Brancott Sauvignon Blanc with a very individual nose.

A Great Discovery

Review from tesco.com

I took a punt on this one as I had never tried it before and I will definately be going back for more it is delicious. The initial hit is as you'd expect from a New Zealand SB with a floral noze and gooseberries but then there's the next element which lingers on the tounge and makes for an interesting and yummy taste sensation a bit sharper and longer than you'd expected but very nice and worth a try

Lovely wine

Review from tesco.com

We love Brancott Sauvignon Blanc but since Brancott Gris came to the fore we have to say it has taken over as favourite. Gris has a wonderful taste and is simply delightful.
