Preparation and Usage

  • Shortcrust Pastry Tips: Let your pastry temper to a room temperature
  • For best results, take the pastry out of the fridge approximately 45 minutes before your are ready to use it, as it will be easier to work with.
  • Crispy and evenly baked
  • Using the tip of a sharp knife make 2 small cuts into your pastry lid before baking. This will allow the steam to escape while it cooks and prevent your pastry from being soggy once cooked.
  • Cinnamon finish
  • For a tasty finish to your sweet pies, simply brush with a beaten egg and sprinkle with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar before baking.
  • 1. Take out of the fridge and remove from the carton approximately 45 minutes before use. After this time, for best results use immediately.
  • 2. Remove from plastic wrap and unroll the pastry sheet.

4 stars

Im a novice at pie making, but found this pretty good and easy to use, bit to narrow for my pie dish, so just floured it and rolled to edges of sheet it was on, still peeled easy, will buy again

I love this, it only cracks as people are complain

5 stars

I love this, it only cracks as people are complaining about if you don't leave it out of the fridge first to warm up. Obviously never going to be as buttery as crumbly as real pastry but I use it all the time for quiches with great success

Not as easy as it should have been

1 stars

this product is terrible ,it did not unroll as it should have but cracked and i had to re-roll which rather defeated the object

Bring back butter please

1 stars

Jus-Rol really made a big mistake taking all the butter out of their pastry. What was once a real treat that tasted as good as home made is now a foul-smelling tasteless and hard pastry. I can't understand why they did this - pastry should have butter! I guess they're cutting costs. Going by reviews, they're losing custom too.

2 stars

This smells rancid when uncooked and this put me off. It also cracks on unrolling and I had to create a patchwork pie top. (But I didn't remove it from the fridge 45 mins before use as advised.) It was also a bit thicker than I'd like. Once cooked, it browned nicely and didn't appear to taste rancid but I won't buy it again.

absolute waste of money

1 stars

had trouble with this a few weeks ago and said then i wouldnt buy it again, unfortunately needed some quick and supermarket brand wasn't available so had to buy some jus rol. absolutely awful, its rock hard, difficult to roll and when cooking sausage rolls it just shrinks and falls off the sausagemeat. i'm no beginner at baking and have made loads of other pastry items. and jus rol used to be good, supermarket brands are 150% better than this rubbish now

Always excellent quality and with meat and potato

4 stars

Always excellent quality and with meat and potato pie it's just like mother used to make it!!

I buy this every Christmas to make my mince pies.

1 stars

I buy this every Christmas to make my mince pies. I bought 4 packs this year and they all went in the bin. It was discoloured and smelt awful. I had to put my mince pie making on hold and replaced it with sainsburys own. Very disappointed in jus rol pastry having never previously over many years had a problem!
