Try it, you may be very pleasantly surprised!
Something different, what a pleasant change. The fennel / aniseed taste is delicate and for the discerning, compliments the mackerel beautifully. (Fennel is sometimes included in recipes for the traditional gooseberry sauce often served with fresh mackerel). My apologies for sounding like a foodie snob but as I no longer have any interest in anything but the most convenient of convenience foods, I'm getting very weary of the same tedious, unadventurous flavours that dominate most supermarket shelves these days and the childish 'yuk' reviews that deter food manufacturers from attempting something new and other customers from trying something unfamiliar.
Very good (but discontinued curry one was better)
Well, I love it. This seems to be quite divisive! It's good warmed up in pitta bread. It isn't as good as the sadly discontinued mackerel in curry sauce though. That one was my all time favourite.
Spoilt by the taste of ANISEED
Spoilt by the taste of ANISEED.
Fennel and aniseed does NOT go with mackerel. Yuk!
Whoever thought up these ingredients to go in a tin of 'mackerel in a spicy tomato sauce, must have some taste buds missing. 'Fennel and aniseed do NOT go with mackerel. Yuk!
Really did not like the taste at all.
Made me not want to eat fish at all
Disgusting spices added. Made my stomach sick. Had one uneasy night after eating those. Made me not want to eat fish at all.
Absolutely gorgeous and plenty of fish in it. Clearly says spicy and ingredients mention aniseed and fennel. It is a lovely flavour and a change to the boring tomato. Don’t say it is disgusting must because you don’t like aniseed. Plenty of people do! It’s not overpowering.
I FEEL IT WOULD BE BETTER WITHOUT THE ANISEED IN T
I FEEL IT WOULD BE BETTER WITHOUT THE ANISEED IN THE SAUCE, BUT IF YOU LIKE ANISE YOU WILL LIKE THIS,
Lovely taste. Very nice on toast.
The most disgusting mackerel I have ever tasted in
The most disgusting mackerel I have ever tasted in my life! There should be a warning on the front of the pack that this product contains aniseed! Straight to the bin! Horrible!
