I bought this going from dark blonde with natural light highlights. I wanted that amber-y gold on the cover. Followed the instructions to a T, and I've ended up with a disgusting mousey brown, and my highlights are gone. Currently searching for a different dye to fix this.

Bought this to covor my grey. the colour on the packet was close to my natural colour. The colour produces from the pack in incredibly dark. virtually chestnut. not my natural auburn/ red. DO NOT USE!!!

Used to lighten previously coloured hair. Colour to start was fading dark blonde. The 801 hasn't covered the few grays I have but it has lightened the blonde, so the grey is less obvious.

Review from loreal-paris.co.uk

Awful, my hairdresser couldn't believe this was a temporary 28 day wash colour - I had to have my hair bleach bathed twice! Then hi-lighted to try and get this out of my hair!! Even with a toner put on top to try and calm it down I still had some light gingery streaks throughout. A very painful, stressful, expensive mistake. WILL NEVER TOUCH LOREAL PRODUCTS AGAIN!

Great colour!

Review from loreal-paris.co.uk

I have been using Loreal Casting for more than ten years, and love it. It has not been so harsh on my hair as the permanent colours are. I have very fine hair and have gone nearly completely grey now. The blonde colours put a special sheen on my hair, which gets me complements all the time. Not even a hairdresser can obtain those results! I have recommended it to many people who complement me. Unfortunately the blondes seem to be unobtainable in my country, and our local shops say it was no longer manufactured. If more people know the fabulous results on gray and graying hair the demand will be staggering, I am sure.

Review from loreal-paris.co.uk

This colour is terrible, I have gone from a lovely warm brunette to an off black like liquorice! I would say I'm an expert in applying home hair dyes as I have been doing it for 20 years, and my hair colour before using was compatible (so said the box) with this colour. I was previously coloured with a level 4, and with this being a level 5 I expected it to be slightly lighter than what I had, not 4 levels darker!! It's a disgusting colour, I look like I'm wearing an old wig, it looks so drab, and I assure you that's not because of the condition of my hair. I will now have to go and strip my hair of the darkness and recolour which I really resent doing and is quite upsetting. Such a waste of money and my time. It's unfortunate as I've been using Casting Creme Gloss as my number 1 for a long time but you've really put me off with this one, there's really something far wrong with this colour...mix up at the factory...wrong colour put in the tube????

Review from loreal-paris.co.uk

Good buy for money, goes on easily, plenty in the box so for shorter hair half size boxes would be great or smaller double packs so you don't waste any. does not have an over powerful smell. Do remember to put conditioner around hairline and ears as bright and dark colours always dye your skin easily.......more extended info: Got 2 packets on special offer at Superdrug for £11.00 so was a great buy, I had medium blonde hair when I used this dye and I had noticed that the packaging on the dyes have changed to not include blonde anymore for the darker shades, but having used L'oreal dyes for over 20 years I was not put of choosing a darker shade. I have never dyed my hair a bright colour before and when looking through the shades the Blackcurrant stood out to me most with a dark subtle shade that was sort of red sort of purple so I was excited to try it. The colour was bright when finished but I loved it as did all my friends, I also decided to have my hair cut to a chin length bob and my hairdresser loved the colour and the amazing shine it gave my hair, although I did appologise for the amount of dye that would be coming out. And this is my only flaw, the colour washed down pretty quick and became very bright but still nice, I was terrified to get my hair wet as even just with water the dye came out. So I decided it would be good to do a permanent dye to lock in the colour but to my dismay they do not do a colour like this in the permanent dyes, the closest one is just a deep red and it has taken away the lovely inbetween red/purple tinge and it is now just deep red, which is nice but to me it's not what I wanted. I have lost the intense shine too even though my hair is still healthy. soft and shiny. They also do not do the colour I chose anymore, it was the sublime mousse range and was a deep red, The Blackcurrant is in the Black range of colours and it is disappointing that a permanent colour is not offered, overall the Blackcurrant is the best colour I have ever used in my hair, the shine it gives is amazing but it does wash out quickly and needs to be a permanent version, cheers for reading :Dmc
