read the reviews before trying this wine and can honestly say that value for money wise it takes some beating....What do people expect? I am no expert but I know what I like and I like this and if its so much worse than the 2010 all I can say is Lucky you for getting the better vintage.....UNDRINKABLE? no way

Lacks a bit....

The reason I have reviewed this wine is the first version on sale, the Trophy winning one was such a good buy I had to find out how this compared. Sadly it doesn't, that's not to say this is a bad wine far from it but it is now comparable to many "new world" fruit driven wines that whilst good value are pretty indistinguishable from one another, something the previous vintage could not be accused of, the Trincadeira grape seems to be swallowed up in this version which is a shame and the value is not as good.

Currants

Review from tesco.com

As a frequent visitor to the Algarve I have searched for this wine in their supermarkets but to no avail. Sadly, the UK does not appear to be fond of Portuguese wine so the choice is limited here and this is one of the best I have been able to buy in England.

Apalling

Review from tesco.com

After seeing apparently good reviews, I decided that this must be a great value wine and bought a case. When it arrived I was excited to open the first bottle. I did so and poured a glass that I could barely finish, it was so sweet and lacking any descernable flavour. I have spent the time since, trying to offload it. A terrible wine that is utterly lacking any attractive flavours or character. Tastes as if it would cost pence and be served in a cardboard carton.

Fab!

I always buy this wine.....normally when it is on a deal! It is a great wine. Full of fruit, medium body and goes well with practically nay dish. I would definitely recommend this wine. One of my cheaper end favourites.

Good for the price

Review from tesco.com

One of the better Portuguese wines. Good dark fruit flavour, with a liquorice after-taste. An excellent wine for the money - great with lamb.

Still a good buy

Review from tesco.com

The 2011 vintage is not as good as the 2010 but remains a very good buy. I particularly enjoy the red fruit characteristics and the acidity carries the ripe fruit. Good on its own but better with food.
