Not what it used to be
I feel like something has changed?! Always bought this yeast but recently my bread just isn't rising the same and I'm finding the last few sachets (still within date) just don't rise at all! I store in a sealed container in my cupboard so should be fine past the expiry if necessary. Will be finding another brand.
No confidence in this yeast.
I have been using this brand for a number of years, recently even though I attempted to use it well before the use by date I have had two occasions where the loaf did not rise in my bread maker. I will not be buying this again as it appears to deteriorate the nearer the use by date it gets.
This yeast was almost inactive - very poor.
I have tried this with two lots of breadmaking. The loaves were almost a complete flop. I have been making bread for 45 years by hand and have never experienced this problem. I will buy Allinson's yeast sachets online as I did during the lockdown. Do not buy this product.
Tried a brand new packet....thought the first rather dismal results were a fluke but our next loaf confirmed our fears.....very little rising took place. We use a bread machine and this was our first ever failure using this bread recipe. I bought another set from a different supermarket and our loaves are rising perfectly once more.
Not gluten free
Be warned this contains wheat flour so no good for making Gluten free bread which we have to do for another family member It make very good normal bread but other dry yeasts we have bought don't require flour in them why does Tesco's?
Excellent yeast for my bread maker. Would not use anything else.
Best Yeast for Bread
Best yeast I have used. Makes a consistent loaf. Rises well, just follow the instructions on the packet.
This is the best dried yeast I have used. Makes lovely bread and rolls. Excellent product.
I AM BREADY
Great for all kinds of breads, very happy with the results. I always activate it (even if you don’t need to) because then I can be sure it’s not dead.
OK yeast, shame about the wheat
Picked this up when I couldn't get my usual brand, went to use it today and realised it contained wheat, luckily I was using it for the gluten eater in the house, not myself, the bread came out OK, so the yeast was fine in that respect, but I'm really surprised and disappointed that Tesco feel the need to add unnecessary wheat to their yeast, back to paying a bit extra for my usual brand.
